THE BLESSED DAY OF ARAFAT

During the Hajj, almost in the end of Hajj the day of ‘Arafat comes; it is the 9^th day of the Zil Ḥijjah according to the Islamic calendar. In the ritual of Arafat pilgrims stand on the ‘maidan-e-Arafat in order to perform supplications, and the further acts of worship (ibadah).

Every year in the month of Zilhajj about 2 million pilgrims or more from all around the world is present at the ‘maidan-e-Arafat during every month of Zilhajj. This sacred occasion shows the end of the Ḥajj pilgrimage, the most important ritual for the Hajj pilgrims.

It was the day of Arafat that the Prophet (PBUH) delivered His famous farewell Khutba that declared the cleanliness of human life and completely end to racism.

Verse 5:3 of Holy Quran,

Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than ALLAH, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, ALLAH is Forgiving and Merciful.

Ritual of Arafat is one of the most blessed times considered in religion Islam because ALLAH Almighty frees many Muslims from Dozakh and expiates more sins on this sacred day. As such, it is one of the most tremendous days to struggle for doing more worship (ibadah), excellent deeds, and specially to increase our Duas. At the plain of Arafat it is most commendable act to praise, worship and declare the Onenessof ALLAH Almighty.

This is a very blessed time so pilgrims should also pray for their loved ones family, relatives, friends, the Muslims, the righteous, and whole humanity at large. At the same time, those Muslims who are not gone there for pilgrimage have to pray for those who are. If we meet any pilgrims on their sacred voyage, we should honour them as they are the respected guests of ALLAH Almighty.
